Our goal is to provide women and their families with all the necessary information about a healthy lifestyle for this pregnancy and for their future health.
We provide individual treatment options to improve pregnancy outcomes.
Pregnancy Diabetes Care is a new service for New Zealand women.
We know that careful management of gestational diabetes (GDM) or diabetes during pregnancy is associated with improved pregnancy outcomes. GDM is the most common pregnancy complication and currently affects 10-20% of pregnant women in New Zealand. We can provide expert care if this happens to you.
At Pregnancy Diabetes Care we offer a range of services:
For women who are diagnosed with GDM after 24 weeks:
- You can be seen quickly and an effective management plan can be instituted without delays
Early pregnancy appointments for women who have an elevated HbA1c screening result (over 40 mmol/mol) or who are high risk for developing GDM
- We can discuss current knowledge and make an individualised management plan
Pre-pregnancy appointments for women who have diabetes or pre-diabetes:
- The best way to reduce your pregnancy risks is to optimise your general health and management of your sugar levels before you become pregnant. We are able to continue this care throughout your pregnancy
Based in Auckland, Janet Rowan, Consultant Physician and Jo Morgan, Diabetes Specialist Midwife have more than 40 years’ combined experience in the care of pregnant women with diabetes.
Clinics are available on Thursday morning at the rooms of:
AOC (Auckland Obstetric Centre) Ground Floor, 20 Titoki St, Parnell or
Birthright Level 2 Ascot Central, 7 Ellerslie Racecourse Drive, Ellerslie.
